Over PLN 1.26 million from the SPUB programme for the maintenance of MRI/PET at the BioImaging Laboratory, CDT-CARD

The BioImaging Laboratory of the Centre for the Development of Civilisation and Age-Related Diseases (CDT-CARD) at the Jagiellonian University Medical College has received funding of PLN 1,269,823.50.

The funds come from the SPUB programme of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) and are dedicated directly to the BioImaging Laboratory at CDT-CARD to support the maintenance and development of its key research infrastructure – the hybrid MRI/PET Bruker BioSpec Maxwell 70/17 system.

?MRI/PET is the central element of the BioImaging Laboratory’s research facilities and is applied in advanced preclinical studies on ischemic stroke, neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis), as well as metabolic and vascular disorders.

This infrastructure enables comprehensive structural, functional, and molecular investigations, supporting the development of innovative therapies targeting civilisation-related diseases.

The awarded funding will cover service, operational, and upgrade costs, ensuring full accessibility of the system for research teams at the Jagiellonian University Medical College, as well as for national and international partners.

?️SPUB funding from the MNiSW, dedicated to our Laboratory, is crucial for maintaining the high quality of our research and for further development of CDT-CARD infrastructure. It enables us not only to continue our scientific projects but also to strengthen collaboration with other academic centres and the biotech industry,” emphasises Dr Bartosz Pomierny, Head of the BioImaging Laboratory, CDT-CARD.

??CDT-CARD consistently develops its research infrastructure, integrating in vivo and ex vivo imaging methods (MRI, PET, confocal and two-photon microscopy, optogenetics, electrophysiology) with molecular and bioinformatics analyses. SPUB funding strengthens the position of the BioImaging Laboratory as one of the leading translational research centres in Poland.
